ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that pending development projects having high public utility should continue. Prime Minister issued these directions while chairing a high-level meeting to review Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) at the Prime Minister’s House on Monday.
While issuing guidelines for review of PSDP, Prime Minister directed that projects that have been properly planned & executed with efficiency and having high public utility should continue and be completed within stipulated time-frame.
Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction over poor implementation of some development projects in last many years and said that such delays adversely affect the development agenda of the Government. PM further directed that best human resources should be placed in key ministries and on key projects for ensuring efficient and on-time completion of projects. However, PM emphasized that; placement should be made purely on merit, without practicing any favouritism and nepotism. Moreover, PM directed Planning Division to formulate appropriate compensation mechanism, based on market rates, for those employees who are delivering results and are working efficiently.
While referring to project procurements, PM issued directions that a framework be developed to monitor procurements by 3rd Party independent Auditors and complete transparency be ensured.
Prime Minister directed Minister Planning to conduct a comprehensive review of the PSDP and report the findings.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Resources Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Secretary Finance Dr. Waqar Masood Khan, Secretary Planning Mr. Hassan Nawaz Tarar and other senior officers.
