LAHORE, (SANA): Member of National Assembly from Jhang and Federal Minister Sheikh Waqas Akram belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q), announced his decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) along with 25 local leaders on Thursday during a meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif at Model Town.
Waqas announced his decision at a joint press conference with Chief Minister Punjab after a one-on-one meeting with him; meanwhile Khawaja Saad Rafiq, KHawaja Muhammad Asif and other leaders of the party were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion Mian Shahbaz Sharif welcomed Waqas Akram in PML-N. He said that there is no allegation of corruption charge on Waqas Akram. Shahbaz said that Wasqas Akram has announced the joining of PML-N after resigning from ministership and as MNA, adding that the present assemblies would be dissolved in next 48 hours. He also announced to establish university in Jhang.
Replying a question, Shahbaz Shairf said that after the report of the Transparency International regarding the metro bus project the moths of the opponents have been shut. He said that the transparency international has declared the metro bus project as transparent.
“I rule out the impression of being an opportunist, the fact is that my grievances have been addressed by the PML-N leadership and now I feel happy to be the part of this party,” said Akram.
Waqas Akram said that there was lack of communication between him and PML-N, adding that after the solution of this problem he has joined the PML-N. He thanked Nawaz Sharif, Shahabz Sharif and PML-N for accepting him in PML-N.
He said his family is old Muslims leaguer, adding that any Muslim leaguer could not survive without Muslim league. He said that he would remain in Muslim League. Waqas Akram said he wants to see all Muslim leagues united. He said that the PML-N has addressed his reservations over some issues. Waqas Akram said his ancestors have done politics on the platform of Muslim League. He said that he is switching one faction of Muslim League to another faction. He said that he will work hard for the country and PML-N. Waqas Akram said he will do everything for the prosecution of the vision of PML-N leadership for the betterment of country and masses.
On the occasion Khawja Asif said that instead of the fact that Waqas Akram had used to criticize the PML-N but the personal relations were never disconnected. He said that Waqas Akram did not play opposition of PML-N for the sake of opposition.
On the occasion Khawaja Saad Rafiq said that the reservations of the Waqas Akram were removed in one year time and not in a single day, adding that Waqas Akram did not committed any corruption.
Waqas Akram is a member of the National Assembly from Jhang, elected two times from his constituency, NA-89 Jhang-IV. Previously, he was elected on PML- Q’s party ticket in 2008.
