ISLAMABAD: The silent activities for the arbitration between the government and the Taliban have become fast. Arbitration committee member Professor Ibrahim Khan, coordinator Syed Yousuf Shah and Maulana Muhammad Haseeb have reached Miranshah on special helicopter to convey government committee demands to Taliban leadership. Meanwhile the members of the arbitration committee reached at the specific location for holding meeting with the Taliban Shura. Later on the dialogues between the arbitration committee members and Taliban political shura were started.
The details of the dialogues would be brought before the masses after moving forward in dialogue process and after discussion in both committees. Serious considerations have been started for the meetings of the committees with the military and political leadership. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is also hopeful for the success of the dialogues.
The federal government has provided logistic support to the arbitration committee for reaching North Waziristan Agency. The arbitration committee has reached in Miranshah to convey the joint declaration of the meeting between the arbitration and government committees to Taliban political shura and for knowing their stance over the matter. According to sources the matters are moving forward in fast manner to start formal dialogues between the government and Taliban.
The political administration formally briefed the arbitration committee about the area. The arbitration committee members had reached Bannu on helicopter and later on left for Miranshah. Political agent North Waziristan Agency Siraj Khan briefed the committee about the situation of the area. According to sources the political agent guided the committee regarding access in concerned areas. When the members of the arbitration committee left for the concerned area they became in contact with the Taliban. The members were continuously guided for the specific location of Taliban and later on the members of the arbitration committee reached at the concerned place in the security of Taliban.
The delegation spent night at Miranshah and later on they were given access to concerned areas for holding meeting with the Taliban leadership. The meeting of the Taliban political shura chaired by Sheikh Khalid Haqqani was also held for holding meeting with the arbitration committee.
According to sources the meeting of the arbitration committee and government committee is expected in next two days. The arbitration committee will present its report regarding its visit of Miranshah and will inform about the viewpoint of Taliban over the joint declaration.
The sources have claimed that soon there would be progress regarding the mode of negotiations between the government and Taliban.
The government provided the helicopter after arbitration committee demanded for a helicopter to hold talks with the TTP central leadership in North Waziristan, the sources added.
Earlier, Maulana Yousuf said that the committee had contacted the Taliban leadership and possibly it could not go to Waziristan for talks.
He said that the government had assured of providing helicopter to go to Waziristan but now it is not needed as the talks can be held at any nearest place. He further said that the things would be clear in two or three days.
“Maulana Abdul Aziz is a member of the Taliban committee and will remain so”, he added. He further said that the things would be clear in two or three days.
Meanwhile Professor Muhammad Ibrahim has described the recent talks between the negotiation teams of the governmental and Taliban as useful.
Talking to newsmen at Ogi in district Mansehra‚ he said the issues raised at the first meeting from government side would be conveyed to Taliban leadership‚ while reservations expressed by the Taliban were presented before the government.
Professor Ibrahim said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is serious and sincere in resolving the issue through talks and the nation is also praying for success of dialogue process for establishing lasting peace.
