MULTAN: At least nine students of Bahauddin Zakaria University (BZU) DG Khan Campus climbed on a high-rising water tank on the premises to protest against the typical clerical red tape that had been holding up the issuance of their result cards for too long here on Friday night.
“The disgruntled students belonging to far off areas decided to risk their lives to make themselves heard after the varsity officials nearly forgot that hundreds of MSc Computer Sciences group scholars are outside waiting for their marks sheets,” sources quoted a student as saying.
To register their protest, the students climbed on the top of a water tank located behind the girls hostel, Maryam Hall, they added.
“The students remained at the tank for about an hour to record their protest,” the sources further said.
When contacted, Director Distance Learning Dr Ishaque Fani said they went to protesting students for negotiation and ensured that they would be provided cards within a day.
“How could we have issued the cards when the result was yet to be prepared,” Dr Fani said while terming students demands as unjustified.
Dr fani, however, added that on Saturday, the students would get heir result cards.
