Three-member bench of apex court comprising Chief Justice Tassaduq Jillani, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard the Election Commission of Pakistan’s appeal against the Lahor High Court verdict given against the delimitation in Punjab and other case including LB polls in Cantonment boards of the country.
During the course of hearing the counsel for ECP Akram Sheikh filing reply, contended that the powers for delimitations should be given to federation because LB polls would be held in all provinces.
Additional Advocate General Punjab Mustafa Ramaday said that Punjab government has not challenged the Lahore High Court (LHC)m verdict and ready to implement the same, adding the for the implementation of LHC decision some government have to amend some laws so court may give time.
The Chief Justice Inquired form Ramaday, how much time would be required to amend the laws, adding that if the provincial government ready to hold LB polls than court is ready to give time for amending the law.
Later, the court allowing the request of Mustafa Ramday for adjournment has given time till next Wednesday to give the date for holding LB polls in the province.
