Qadri should not drag army into politics: Pervaiz Rashid

prvez rsheed Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said Pakistan Awmi Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri should not drag the army into the politics as their prime responsibility is defense and security of the country.

Talking to media here on Monday, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said that Tahirul Qadri has hijacked the plane in Lahore while PAT workers are breaking law on the roads of Islamabad.

The minister said that the decision to divert plane of Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Tahirul Qadri from Islamabad to Lahore was taken for his and the security of other passengers.

He said that any untoward incident could occur at the Islamabad airport in the presence of charged crowd there. Pervez Rasheed said that Islamabad administration has blocked some routes due to security reason. The information minister said that a helicopter was provided to Tahirul Qadri to reach his Model Town residence.

He said that the PAT chief is an independent citizen of Pakistan but he should respect the law.

Earlier, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief and the founder of Minahjul Quran International Tahirul Qadri on Monday urged the army to take notice of the situation.

Talking to media from inside the plane at Lahore airport, Qadri said he will only go home if Army provides security.
“We need guarantee from Pak Army,” he added.
Qadri claimed that ‘terrorists in police uniform and plain clothes are waiting for him outside.’

“The Sharif government is a murderous state. They have killed many of our supporters. We have confirmed reports they have hired terrorists to carry out attacks on their opponents,” he said.

Expressing confidence in army, Tahirul Qadri said that he will only hold talks with military leadership.
“I only trust the army; their high officials should come and escort us safely to our home.”

Earlier, Dr. Tahirul Qadri s flight EK612 was diverted from Islamabad towards Lahore. His flight was expected to land at the Benazir International Airport at 8:30am but the data showed airplane circulating over Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Later, Emirates Airline website reported that the flight was diverted towards Lahore.
