ISALAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry today (Wednesday) for explanation in OGRA implementation case. The court has ordered the NAB chief to explain why court orders regarding OGRA implementation case have not been implemented instead of passing 26 months.
The three-member bench of apex court comprising Justice Jawad S Khawaja, Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman and Justice Mushir Alam heard the OGRA implementation case on Tuesday.
During the curse of hearing Prosecutor General NAB KK Agha appeared before the court but remained to present justification for delay in implementation of the court verdict given on 25th November 2011.
The court questioned about the progress made by NAB in investigations of 82 billion mega scam but KK Agha responded that he has not detailed information about the case enquiries.
The court awarded him an hour time for collection of information from inquiry officers regarding the action taken against Tauqeer Sadiq the main accuse of said case and again started the proceedings after the break.
Prosecutor General informed the court that the investigation officer of Nab Shahid Sheikh is present in Karachi for attending management course, so he could not receive details about the enquiry.
The court observed that the 26 months have been passed after decision in which the court had summoned implementation report within 45 days, adding that the situation is still on the position of 26 November 2011.
The prosecutor read the previous orders on court directive and sought two weeks time from the court for detailed report but Justice Jawad S Khawaja rejecting his request, said that court would not give more time to Nab because there is no reasonable justification for adjournment.
Justice Jawwad remarked that there were people who assisted the main accuse Tauqeer Sadiq during his flee from the country and later Nab was struggling for bring him back on court orders.
Prosecutor further said that action has been taken against the Nab officials involved in case, adding that inquiry regarding the involvement of Punjab police and NHA officials has not been proved yet.
Justice Jawwad said that Nab has filed only one reference during 26 months, adding that prima facie the court orders deliberately have been violated.
Later the court summoning the Chairman Nab Qamar zaman Chaudhry has adjourned the further hearing till today (Wednesday).
