LAHORE, SARGODHAH, RAJANPUR, RAWALPINDI, (SANA): The nomination papers of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif from NA-68 have been accepted b the Returning Officer (RO). The nomination papers of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Mehmod Khan Achakzai, Nawabzada Tallal Akbar Bugti, Farayal Talpur have been accepted by returning officers. Returning officer accepted the nomination papers of Imran Khan from NA-122 Lahore and NA-56 were accepted. The returning officers rejected all the objections against him by opponent candidates. Returning officer accepted the nomination papers of Shahbaz Sharif from PP-247 Rajanpur by dismissing all the objections.
Earlier, objections against Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers for the Sargodha constituency were raised over allegations of the PML-N chief lying to the nation to hide a deal with former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
The RO heard the arguments and rejected the objections raised against the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif.
The returning officer accepted the nomination papers of JUI-F Amir Maulana Fazalur Rehman from NA-24. The returning officer Muhammad Arshad Khan accepted the request of immunity from appearance to Maulana Fazalur Rehman due to security reasons.
The returning officer of NA-110 has summoned PML-N leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif for replying the objections raised against him.
The nomination papers of PML-N candidate Raja Javed Ikhlas from NA-51 Rawalpidni were accepted. The nomination papers of PML-N deputy secretary information Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan from NA-96 Gujranwala were accepted by the returning officer. The nomination papers of PML-N candidate from NA-70 Khushab Shakir Bashir Awan were accepted. The nomination papers of PP candidate from NA-03 Noor Alam Khan were also accepted. The nomination papers of JUI-F candidate from NA-04 Haji Ghulam Ali were also accepted. The nomination papers of PP candidates Mushataq Ali Cheema and Mumtaz Cheema from NA-83 were rejected due to band default. The nomination papers of PP candidates Sadiq Ali Memon from NA-237 were rejected due to his dual nationality. The nomination papers of PML-N candidate from NA-56 Muhammad Hanif Abbassi were also accepted. The returning officer rejected all the objections raised against by opponent candidate. The nomination papers of PML-N candidate from NA-127 Naseer Ahmed Bhutta were also accepted by the returning officer.
Today (Sunday) is the last day for scrutiny of the nomination papers for election of National and Provincial Assemblies.
Wednesday is the last date for filing of appeals against acceptance and rejection of the nomination papers by the Returning Officers.
The Election Commission has already announced Election Tribunals that would decide appeals by 17th of this month.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has received all the nomination papers filed by candidates for seats of National and Provincial Assemblies from different parts of the country.
In all, 24094 candidates have filed their nomination papers of them. 7364 are for the National Assembly and 16730 for the four provincial assemblies.
