Senate Standing Committee for information and broadcasting and national heritage has urged the TV channels not to sacrifice the nation and country on their mutual tussles and achieving their own business objectives.
The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee for information and broadcasting and national heritage chaired by the Chairman of the committee Senator Kamil Ali Agha was held at the parliament house on Friday.
The committee said that all are indifferent to the looming dangers, saying that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has put the TV channels to give breaking news and Fatwas’.
While expressing concern on the non-implementation of the code of conduct with regard to TV channels, the committee said that now the main channels are telecasting advertisements of doctors, Hakims , predictors and ‘ peers’.
The committee, while expressing severe annoyance on non-finalization of the code of conduct for the satellite channels, summoned report in three days.
Senator Kamil Ali Agha said that these channels telecasts should not be brought to parliament lodges lest all will be sitting with them.
Managing Director Pakistan Television said that merit and transparency will have to be promoted for improving the matters.
