Shahbaz says billons of rupees wasted in rental projects; says rulers remained sleeping instead of resolving energy crisis

LAHORE, (SANA): Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that billons of rupees were wasted in rental projects, adding that the rulers remained sleeping instead of resolving energy crisis in the country. He said that we have to spend all energies and resources for the solution of the energy crisis and for obtaining the alternative resources of energy in the country.

While addressing the inaugural ceremony of Centre for Energy Research and Development at the University of Engineering and Technology Kala Shah Kaku Campus he said that the energy crisis is also a challenge like the terrorism, adding that the energy crisis could be overcome through collective wisdom and efforts.

Shahbaz Sharif said that if the steps to overcome the energy crisis were not taken today then Pakistan would always remain behind in progress in the committee of the nations.

Advisor to CM Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology lt gen (retd) Muhammad Akram , members of national and provincial assemblies including Mian Javed latif, Rana Afzal Hussain, Rana Tanvir Hussain, Khurram Gulfam, Chaudhry Ghulam Nabi and others were present on the occasion.

He said that due to the theft, corruption and ineligibility and incompetence the circular debt of the energy sector has reached at the five billion rupees. adding that there is complete darkness in the country. He said that the metro bus project is being inaugurated today (Sunday), adding that through this project the masses would enjoy clean, respectable and chap transport for journey.

Meanwhile in a statement Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the conspiracy underway to delay the general elections would be defeated.

He said opponents resentful with his party’s popularity wanted to ensure that elections be delayed.

The chief minister said the PML-N had spent five years serving the people and no one could point a finger at his administration in the country’s largest province.

Shahbaz Sharif added that holding the elections on time was imperative to the country’s stability, adding that the people would cast their votes based on the performances of the political parties.

Chief minister referring to the Lahore metro bus project said it would alleviate the problems people encountered during commuting from one place to another.

He further said that the project would be implemented in other cities as well once the provincial administration establishes that the project has succeeded in earning public trust.

Shahbaz Sharif said that those all those who are afraid of PML-N’s popularity wanted to have elections delayed, however, he added that his party would defeat all conspiracies.

The chief minister said that holding of elections on time is necessary for country’s stability.

He further said that if the people expressed confidence in him then he would also launch rapid bus projects in major cities of the country.

Shahbaz said that all the projects launched in Punjab are symbols of transparency.

The CM said that timely elections are necessary for the country’s stability. He said that no one can point out at PML-N for corruption. Shahbaz Sharif vowed to start more development projects across Punjab.
