THATTA: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always striven for the strengthening of democratic system and it will oppose any move to derail democracy.
Talking to reporters in Makli Gymkhana here on Monday, he said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto sacrificed their lives for democracy in the country. The PPP is the party of poor and downtrodden masses and will continue to serve them, he added.
He dispelled rumours that he was being removed as Sindh Chief Minister, saying that only God or party’s chairman can unseat him.
The chief minister said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will convene a party convention in Lahore on November 30.
As many as 50 senior leaders and workers from each district will be invited to attend the convention where party performance and program will be highlighted, he said.
