Special court issues non-bailable warrants for Musharraf
The Special Court, constituted to try former military dictator Pervez Musharraf in high treason case, issued non-bail able warrant and ordered him to appear before the court on March 31. Today, when the hearing began, his legal team filed a plea in the special court to exempt him from appearing before it today on account of threats to his security. Officials of secret agencies on Thursday gave an in-camera briefing to judges over threats to life of Pervez Musharraf. The sensitive agencies had claimed that terrorists can target the former military ruler at any time, adding that the plot was traced after a phone call was intercepted. On the other hand, Islamabad authorities had finalized a ‘VIP’ security plan for Musharraf’s court appearance under which 2100 security personnel, including 500 Rangers men, were deployed on his route to the Special Court.
