Suspect arrested from Islamabad fruit market
Police claimed to have arrested a suspect from Islamabad’s vegetable market, minutes after a bomb blast left nearly 20 people dead. No group claimed responsibility of the attack. The blast took place in the busy morning hours when dozen of people gather at the market in the federal capital’s Sector I-11. The powerful blast left some 18 people dead with over 40 others wounded. Acting IG Islamabad, Khalid Khattak said the bomb was concealed in a fruit crate. He said five kg ‘high explosives’ were used in the blast which left a 2-foot crater at the site which was littered with bloody body parts. He said initial enquiry has been kicked off into the incident and evidences had been collected from the blast site where 1500 to 2000 people, mostly grocers and sellers, were present.
