Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif said on Monday terrorism in Pakistan needs to be eliminated. He said military operation in North Waziristan Agency has been started for wiping out terrorists from country. He said military operation would continue till the elimination of all terrorists from country. He said we will get rid of menace of terrorism while destroying the terrorist hideouts.
General Sharif visited the National Defence University and addressed participants of the National Security and War Course. According to an ISPR press release, the army chief’s address focused on the internal and external situation of the country with particular reference to the ongoing operation in North Waziristan.
The army chief emphasised that the operation is aimed to eliminate all terrorists and their sanctuaries in North Waziristan and ‘get rid of the menace of terrorism.’
General Raheel Sharif vowed that operation Zarb-e-Azb will continue in North Waziristan till complete elimination of the terrorists.

“All hideouts of terrorists in North Waziristan will be destroyed,” he said, adding on second day of the operation 27 more terrorists have been killed.
“The purpose of the operation is to get rid of the menace of terrorism”, General Raheel told participants. General Raheel Sharif also replied the questions of the participants of the war course.
Earlier on arrival at the National Defence University, General Raheel Sharif was received by Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal, President National Defence University.
Earlier, ISPR said that in early Monday morning 6 terrorists’ hideouts in Shawal, North Waziristan Agency were destroyed by jet aircrafts, adding in these precise strikes 27 terrorists were killed.
Latest air strikes came after Sunday morning air assault in Degan- Boya in North Wazirastan in which 140 terrorists, most of them Uzbeks, were killed. “Many ETIM terrorists and their affiliates have also been killed in the strikes. It was a massive blow to the terrorists and one of their main communication centre has been dismantled,” the statement said.
