Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Spokesman Shahidullah Shahid Sunday said that the TTP has nothing to do with the ongoing fighting between the two rival groups, however, he said efforts were afoot for a truce between the warring groups. He said that the differences between the different groups of TTP have been overcome.
TTP central spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said in a statement from undisclosed location that a section of the media has launched a propaganda campaign on the pretext of some simple bitterness among the TTP and we would like to clarify that the ongoing fight between the two groups has nothing to do with the entire TTP.
However, he said some bitterness was created out of misgivings among some of the buddies, which was immediately resolved after intervening by the TTP central Shura. He said that this matter was in no way linked with TTP-government talks and ceasefire.
Shahidullah Shahid said that all the segments of the TTP abide by the decision taken by central Shura on the order of Maulana Fazlluah.
He further said TTP rejects all propaganda and added we believe in the supremacy of Shariat-e-Islami.
“Fighting is the matter of only two groups. It has nothing to do with the TTP. Media should stop its negative propaganda immediately,” TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said.
The Taliban and Pakistani government are currently involved in peace talks. The Taliban officially observed a ceasefire from March 1 to April 10, but the insurgency is reportedly split over whether to renew it.
The two rival Taliban factions are currently fighting each other in Waziristan tribal region.
“The infighting among militant groups has neither any connection with the dialogue process nor will it affect negotiations and ceasefire with the government,” said the TTP leader.
