US, Afghanistan seek Pak support against terrorism

spotBRUSSELS: US Secretary of State John Kerry and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani expressed their desire to work in concert with Pakistan for the eradication of the menace of terrorism.

During a NATO meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels, Kerry urged Islamabad and Kabul to wipe out the safe havens of terrorists in the border areas.

Kerry also remarked that Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif gave assurance to work in sync with Afghanistan for the purpose.

On the occasion, Ashraf Ghani was of the view that his country will not become a part to a proxy war against any country, adding however that Pak-Afghan security forces will have to operate in sync against the common enemy.
