US drones kill six in N. Waziristan; Hakeem’s fate unclear

unclearMIRANSHAH: Amid conflicting reports about the fate of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan leader, Hakeemullah Mehsud at least six persons were killed and two others injured in the result of the US drone strike on a vehicle in Danday Darpakhel area near Miranshah on Friday.

Hakeemullah Mehsud’s bodyguard Tariq Mehsud also reportedly died in the attack.

US drones fired four missiles at a residential compound of the TTP headquarter.

Sources said that locals were trying to retrieve dead and injured from the debris of the house. Identities of the dead and injured were yet to be known. The drones also continued flights on the area due to which the locals were feared into grip.

It was the second drone attack since Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif paid a visit to the United States, where he demanded US President Barack Obama to stop the attacks.

Pakistan has long been opposing CIA-operated drone attacks in the tribal region dubbing them as violation of its territorial integrity. It is the second missile strike within 48 hours.

On Thursday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan warned that his party would block NATO supplies if missile strikes did not stop.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office also condiment the strike, saying it violates sovereignty.

Meanwhile, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hasan while condemning the drone attack in Miramshah on Friday , and said the Interior Minister’s statement showing minimum civilian deaths would further embolden the US to continue drone attacks.

In a statement here, the JI Ameer said the sole way to end drone attacks was to stop US supply line and end every form of cooperation with it in the war.
