ISLAMABAD: Awami National Party (ANP) Secretary Information Senator Zahid Khan, expressing regret over the allegations leveled by Azam Khan Hoti against ANP’ s Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, has called Asfandyar Wali Khan ‘hero’ of Pakhtuns.
Speaking to media outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday, in a reaction to Azam Khan Hoti’s press conference, Zahid Khan said that conspiracies and failed attempts to topple the ANP leadership was not a new phenomenon and Azam Hoti’s allegations were a continuation of the same phenomenon.
Zahid Khan questioned as to why Hoti had not raised the allegations while he was enjoying the perks of being a minister during the previous ANP government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
He said that he was shocked over this. He said ‘Azam Hoti is like our family member; therefore, his statement hurts more’.
Senator Zahid further said “there has been a conspiracy against our leadership in every era”. He said Hoti himself had admitted that there was no proof to these allegations; therefore, this press conference was worthless.
“We were in government during the last five years, as to why these allegations were not leveled then?” Zahid Khan said that Hoti had effectively rejected his own claims by saying he had no documentary evidence to support them.
ANP will give its official reaction on Azam Hoti’s press conference in two days, he added.
He said that ANP is a movement which would continue until the Pakhtuns are there in the region, saying that if any one wants to remove Asfandyar Wali Khan he would participate in the elections .He said that Tsunami confined to Lahore while the dengue reached Swat and people are dying, saying that there are 12000 dengue-affected people in the area, but media is not giving coverage.
He said that those who claimed to hold local bodies’ elections in 90 days could not do legislation in five months.
He said that Tsunami affected the areas of ANP, adding that the PTI should stop the NATO supply and ANP would support it.
He said that 307 people were martyred in five months and out of them 250 people were martyred in bomb blasts, adding that the security forces officials are being killed and attacks are in progress.
Zahid Khan said that a number of innocent people were martyred in three bomb blasts in 15 days.
Earlier, former member of the Awami National Party (ANP), Senator Azam Khan Hoti on Monday accused party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and Senator Afrasiab Khattak of entering into a “secret pact” with the United States.
Azam Hoti claimed Asfandyar Wali Khan and Senator Afrasiab Khattak had “sold out the party” for a sum of 35 million dollars.
Earlier this month, the party’s organizing committee had terminated the party membership of the senior leader for violation of party discipline. The committee expelled the leader for leveling “baseless” allegations and using foul language against senior leadership.
Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Azam Hoti leveled another barrage of accusations against the top leadership. Hoti said that the Asfandyar Wali and Khattak had traveled to the US for negotiations and that the two “disappeared” for a period of ten days.
He said the two accepted money to enter into a secret pact with the US against the interests of the “Pakhtun homeland”.
Failing to provide any documentary evidence to back his claims, Hoti said that such pacts do not have any records, receipts or written agreements. However, he stated that the secret agreement was against the interests of the party and the “Pakhtun nation”.
Azam Hoti is the father of former chief minister Ameer Haider Hoti and a brother-in-law of Asfandyar Wali Khan. He has previously held Asfandyar responsible for the party’s massive defeat in general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
He has also previously said in a statement that it was necessary to separate Asfandyar from the party leadership and keep him away from its affairs to save it from collapse.
